Working with the Victorian Skills Commission

Introduction

Local Learning and Employment Networks – LLENs – are funded by the State Government of Victoria through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to build skills for the future and achieve Victoria’s education and training targets by:

  • Ensuring that by 2010, 90 per cent of young people in Victoria will complete year 12 or its equivalent.
  • Building working partnerships between a range of community-based organisations and members.
  • Identifying gaps in the provision of local education and training programs.
  • Planning the development and delivery of educational programs for young people that will assist in meeting the Victorian Government’s targets for better completion rates and employment outcomes.
  • Taking a strategic approach to developing pathways for local young people, especially those at risk of dropping out.
  • Advising the Victorian Skills Commission (VLESC), the Government’s peak advisory body on education, training and employment, on the needs of young people.

There are 31 LLENs located across Victoria, and each has adapted to meet the education, training and employment needs and concerns of young people within its area. To find out more about LLENs, click here. To locate other LLEN websites, click here.

The Capital City Local Learning & Employment Network (CCLLEN) collaborates with education and training providers, employers, youth service organisations and employer associations within the City of Melbourne. We also work with Commonwealth-funded programs such as the Local Community Partnership – the Inner Melbourne VET Cluster to further support young people’s transition.
