Career Development Partnerships

The Capital City LLEN has arranged careers initiatives and forums for our secondary school students with the following employers:

  • The Melbourne Museum (Researchers, graphic design, artists, prop manufacture and design, marketing, scientists, curators, customer service, education specialists)
  • The Victoria Police (Officers/Detectives in wide variety of roles – water police, homicide, administration roles, traffic, emergency services and more)
  • The Metropolitan Fire Brigade (Administration, Emergency Services, Fireman/women)
  • The Neighbourhood Justice Centre (Legal Careers, Mediation)
  • Merrill Lynch (Accountants, Auditors, Investment Banking, Economists, Financial Management, Stockbrokers)
  • YMCA (Sport and Recreation, Management, Community and Youth Work), and
  • The Royal Botanical Gardens (Horticulture, Landscape Design, Botany, Agriculture Research)
  • Bendigo Bank (tellers, investment bankers, corporate accounts, lending, customer service)

Employment/Training Initiatives

In partnership with the Carlton Church of All Nations, the Public Tenant Employment Program (DHS) and Drummond Street Services, the Capital City LLEN has been involved in a number of initiatives that has led to the training and employment of young people residing in Public Housing.

Employer Roundtable Forum Event

In partnership with key stakeholders servicing at risk youth and disadvantaged public housing residents a roundtable discussion, information and recommendation process was organised to identify opportunities for our young people. Attended by stage and federal government ministers, significant outcomes were achieved by this event, including: a partnership between local agencies and developers of new housing and aged care facilities, employment for a range of residents into hospitality, retail and apprenticeships.
